From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
